Common symptoms after Cataract surgery

Cataract surgery recovery is usually  short and uneventful though there are symptoms which are common after surgery.  GlarePatients will often describe having a lot of glare, feeling as though they’ve been wearing sunglasses before, and now everything seems too bright, this includes night driving, trouble seeing traffic lights and glare from the headlights of upcoming cars. Factors affecting- the opacity of the cataract was filtering out a lot of the light while the clear transparent lens allows more of the light in, which results in the sensation of glare. Treatment- Passing time will induce recovery of glare. Dry eye symptomsDry eye-associated symptoms, such as foreign body sensation and fatigue, frequently occur after cataract surgery. Affected patients may experience red or watery eyes and constant foreign body sensation. Lesions such as superficial punctate keratitis and epithelial defects may be seen on the cornea. Factors affecting- There are many factors that might affect the ocular surface environment after cataract surgery. Topical anesthesia and eye drops containing preservatives are known to have effects on the corneal epithelium. Exposure to light from the operating microscope might also be associated with postoperative dry eye. Most corneal surgical procedures disrupt the normal organization of the corneal innervation, which results in dry eyes. Treatment- using lubricant eye drops and passing time will induce recovery of the dry eyes. Difference in perception of color in the eye that has undergone treatmentMany patients notice this difference in color perception. Patients may notice a purple hue in their vision for a couple of days post cataract as well. Factors affecting- During surgery the pupil is dilated and normally takes time for the pupil to dissipate. Difference in perception of color comes as a side effect of the after-image from the microscope light during surgery. Treatment- with time the vision will recover. Tired eyesTiredness of the eye. Factors affecting- the healing process, dry eyes or not having the final glasses RX. Treatment- Relieving this problem may include using lubricant eye drops and getting an up to date Rx. With time symptoms will reduce. Difficulty seeing small details, spots on clothes and facial gesturesMany Patients may feel difficulty seeing spots on clothes, or dishes and trouble recognizing facial gestures. Affecting factors- a reduction in contrast sensitivity. The difficulty to see well is also associated with the need of the brain to adjust to the new lens and vision, this adjustment process is known as neuro-adaptation. Treatment – exercises to enhance neuro adaptation. RevitalVision eye exercises help to adjust to the new vision by improving contrast sensitivity post cataract surgery, by over 150% on average and by influencing the vision processing ability in the brain. This goal is reached by Revitalvision eye exercises, practiced at home using your own computer. These practices last approximately 30 minutes and can be done under the supervision of an optometrist or ophthalmologist. RevitalVision therapy is scientifically and clinically based. Back to Blog page

Glasses after Cataract surgery

During cataract surgery the natural cloudy lens is removed and is replaced by an intraocular lens(IOL). There are different types of lens implants available for the patient to choose from to help reduce or eliminate the dependence on glasses. There are a few factors that determine if and what kind of glasses the patient will wear after surgery and if they will be full time glasses, part time glasses such as reading glasses, or none at all.  Reading glasses after Cataract surgeryDifferent types of IOL’s include, Monofocal IOL-  which is set to provide the best uncorrected vision at one focal point. patients who choose a monofocal IOL usually have it set it for distance vision and use reading glasses for reading. Patients who have it set for near would need glasses for distant vision only. Multifocal IOL- is set to provide best vision in different focal points, distance, intermediate and near in which case the patient won’t need any glasses at all post cataract surgery.  Regardless of the type of lens which is implanted, the patient might  still need to rely on the use of glasses for part of the time, but if correctly selected, the IOLs can greatly reduce the dependence on glasses. How soon after Cataract surgery is it recommended to get new glasses?Following cataract surgery there might be swelling of the eye, and the vision may not be stable. It typically takes about 3-4 weeks for the eye to stabilize after cataract surgery. Only then is it recommended to have a new prescription made to allow for the most stable results. Can you train your eyes to see without glasses? The improvement in vision after cataract surgery is usually instantaneous though many patients  have difficulty adapting to the new vision  as a result of two main reasons . The first is a significant decrease in contrast sensitivity after the surgery in addition to  the brain's need to adapt to the new image coming from the eye ,in other words neuro adaptation. Improving contrast sensitivity after cataract surgery by over 150% on average and helping adjusting to the new vision, is reached by the RevitalVision post cataract program . The RevitalVision eye exercises affect the vision processing ability in the brain and improves the vision. About the Post Cataract programRevitalvision post cataract eye exercises are practiced at home in front of the computer while each practice lasts about 30 minutes. RevitalVision therapy is clinically and scientifically based. The program is 100% natural and improves vision with no drugs, no known risks no complications and no side effects. Can you train your eyes to see without glasses? The improvement in vision after cataract surgery is usually instantaneous though many patients  have difficulty adapting to the new vision  as a result of two main reasons . Blurred vision after Cataract surgery

Cataract surgery is the most common surgery performed in the united states every year. It is a highly successful procedure with few complications, if complications do evolve, most are minor and treatable. 98% of cataract patients experience vision improvement after surgery (in case no other eye conditions present) What causes blurred vision after Cataract surgery? Many patients suffer from difficulty adjusting to the clear vision after cataract surgery.Complications after cataract surgery such as PCO-posterior capsule opacity, may result in blurred vision.Posterior capsule opacity which is referred to as secondary cataract is when the capsule, which holds the lens, develops cloudiness, and may result in blurry vision or haziness.Furthermore, the difficulty to see well after cataract surgery may result from the reduction in contrast sensitivity, which is very common after cataract surgery. The difficulty to see well is associated with the need of the brain to adjust to the new lens and vision, this adjustment process is known as neuro-adaptation. The reduction in contrast sensitivity is especially common in patients with multifocal IOL, which is designed with more than one focal point to fit different distances. This structure, challenges different neurons in the visual cortex, responsible for processing different areas, resulting in low contrast sensitivity. After Cataract surgery symptomsIt is common for patients, in the weeks or months after cataract surgery to experience blurred vision, haziness, glare, difficulty driving at night as a result of glare of upcoming head lights, reduced contrast sensitivity (especially common in patients with multifocal IOL’s) which results in difficulty seeing spots on clothes, counters or dishes, trouble recognizing facial gestures, needing additional light to read and experiencing tired eyes while watching television. About the Post Cataract programRevitalVision post cataract program is composed of 30 training sessions done at home on your computer. During these exercises your brain is trained to see better and experience improved vision without additional surgery, drugs or side-effects. Each training session takes 30 minutes on average, customized to your pace and visual ability. Buying the program onlineRevitalVision offers improving vision post cataract surgery, without the need of a doctor’s examination or support. Congenital Nystagmus

Congenital Nystagmus is a condition present at birth. Nystagmus is a vision condition in which the eyes make uncontrolled repetitive, movements. This condition often results in reduced vision and depth perception. Eye movements can occur from side to side, up and down, or in a circular pattern. Eye movements are controlled by the brain, the eyes move automatically to adjust when there is a slight movement of the head. which stabilizes the image that one is looking at so the image is clear. In some cases, the reason for nystagmus is unknown. In other cases, nystagmus may be related to other eye problems. There are different types of nystagmus: Acquired nystagmusAcquired nystagmus, can be caused by a disease (multiple sclerosis, brain tumor, diabetic neuropathy), an accident (head injury), or a neurological problem (side effect of a medication). Hyperventilation, a flashing light in front of one eye and nicotine. Congenital nystagmus Congenital nystagmus which is present at birth. (aniridia, albinism) Latent nystagmusLatent nystagmus is present when one eye is covered. Latent nystagmus is a horizontal binocular oscillation that is evoked by unequal visual input to the 2 eyes. This type of nystagmus develops primarily in humans with congenital esotropia. Manifest-latent nystagmusManifest-latent nystagmus is continually present but worsens when one eye is covered. Manifest nystagmusManifest nystagmus is always present. Clinical Appearance The eye movements in nystagmus are involuntary, there is no control over the eyes.Nystagmus may improve slightly as a person reaches adulthood, but may worsen with tiredness and stress. Having nystagmus affects vision and appearance while the eyes are in constant motion. Nystagmus usually results in reduced vision and depth perception. Improving nystagmus by practicing RevitalVision eye exercises , improves visual acuity and depth perception.RevitalVision exercises are designed according to the needs of each individual based on specific stimulation. Gabor patches stimulate specific areas in the brain so that it can maximize its efficiency from the information received from the eye. The effect obtained by RevitalVision eye exercises is an improvement of 2.5 lines and a 100% improvement in contrast sensitivity.    Back to Blog page

Lazy eye therapy exercises

Lazy eye (Amblyopia) describes a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects at least 2% of most populations and can lead to permanently reduced vision if not detected and treated within a specific period in childhood. Causes and symptoms of lazy eyeThe first cause of amblyopia in frequency is strabismus, a wandering eye (about 50%), in infancy or early childhood. The second cause is anisometropia, (approx. 17%), when there is a difference in the correction between the 2 eyes, followed by a combination of strabismus and anisometropia (about 30%), and finally the least frequent, any factor that leads to deprivation during the visual sensitive period, ending at approximately 6 to 9 years, may cause amblyopia. In the last 20 years groundbreaking researches showed plasticity of the brain, showing that changes in the neurons can occur even after the critical age of 8-9 years, which means that Adult Lazy Eye can be cured. By stimulating specific areas in the brain, the brain can maximize its efficiency from the information received from the eye. This goal, of improving vision in adult lazy eye, is reached by Our Lazy eye program Revitalvision eye exercises, practiced at home in front of the computer. These last approximately 30 minutes and are done under the supervision of an optometrist or ophthalmologist.  More than 85% of patients who were candidates for this treatment and completed its course improved their visual acuity by 2.5 rows and showed 100% improvement in their contrast sensitivity. Muscle-based eye exercises are recommended for conditions involving the interaction between the eyes and how they work together. While RevitalVision Lazy eye exercises are done by stimulating specific areas in the brain, as a result of brain plasticity Adult Lazy Eye can be cured.  Back to Blog page
