Nystagmus is a vision condition in which the eyes make uncontrolled repetitive, movements. This condition often results in reduced vision and depth perception. Eye movements can occur from side to side, up and down, or in a circular pattern. Eye movements are controlled by the brain, the eyes move automatically to adjust when there is a slight movement of the head. which stabilizes the image that one is looking at so the image is clear.

In some cases, the reason for nystagmus is unknown. In other cases, nystagmus may be related to other eye problems.

There are different types of nystagmus:

Acquired nystagmus

Acquired nystagmus, can be caused by a disease (multiple sclerosis, brain tumor, diabetic neuropathy), an accident (head injury), or a neurological problem (side effect of a medication). Hyperventilation, a flashing light in front of one eye and nicotine.

Congenital nystagmus

Congenital nystagmus which is present at birth. (aniridia, albinism)

Latent nystagmus

Latent nystagmus is present when one eye is covered. Latent nystagmus is a horizontal binocular oscillation that is evoked by unequal visual input to the 2 eyes. This type of nystagmus develops primarily in humans with congenital esotropia.

Manifest-latent nystagmus

Manifest-latent nystagmus is continually present but worsens when one eye is covered.

Manifest nystagmus

Manifest nystagmus is always present.

Clinical Appearance

The eye movements in nystagmus are involuntary, there is no control over the eyes.

Nystagmus may improve slightly as a person reaches adulthood, but may worsen with tiredness and stress. Having nystagmus affects vision and appearance while the eyes are in constant motion. Nystagmus usually results in reduced vision and depth perception.

Improving nystagmus by practicing RevitalVision eye exercises , improves visual acuity and depth perception.

RevitalVision exercises are designed according to the needs of each individual based on specific stimulation. Gabor patches stimulate specific areas in the brain so that it can maximize its efficiency from the information received from the eye. The effect obtained by RevitalVision eye exercises is an improvement of 2.5 lines and a 100% improvement in contrast sensitivity.
